Jan 21, 2014 If the hdd was initially on another PC and fully functional, then, Yes, what you're experiencing is normal. The only way around it, would be to download all of the drivers from Dell's site for Win XP, backup any data, and reinstall from scratch. I am currently running Windows XP SP2 on my clients, but are. I have tried to add drivers for the chipset, but i don´t know which is the diskcontroller driver. You then need to import the driver, including the.sys file into the Ghost Driver. I used a windows in wich i have integrated all my drivers for every.
In the interest of not having to reinstall everything, I would like to use the Windows XP image I made after building my new PC on a new, faster SATA/300 drive I just purchased. As noted in the subject, the image was made from an XP install on a PATA drive.
I imagine I will need to provide SATA drivers to Ghost when I do the imaging (I am using an Asus P5N-E SLI mobo), but will I need to somehow tell Windows that it is no longer on a PATA controller as it might expect?
Thanks for any help. I did not find anything too specific on this issue on Google.
